Our story

We know the names of the people who grow our coffee.

Great coffee starts long before the roaster. So we skip the brokers and buy directly from a small circle of farmers in Ethiopia, Colombia, Kenya and Brazil: people we visit, cup alongside and buy from again, harvest after harvest.

Paying properly for exceptional lots is how those farms keep growing them. Our part happens back home, in small batches roasted by hand and every bag dated, so you always know exactly how fresh your coffee is.

The café

Come for a cup, stay for the roast.

Our café sits right in the city center. Pull up a stool at the brew bar for a pour-over of whatever came off the roaster this week, or take home a bag that was sealed that morning.

Kind words

Notes from our regulars.

“The Pink Bourbon is the first coffee that made my partner give up sugar. It tastes like cherries and cocoa, and it really does arrive the week it was roasted.”

Sofia R.Subscriber, every 2 weeks

“I've tried most of the subscriptions out there. Ember & Oak is the only one where every single bag has been exciting, and skipping a delivery takes two clicks.”

Daniel K.Home espresso devotee

“Their café is my Saturday ritual. The brew bar is warm and unpretentious, and the team will happily talk you through any bean on the shelf.”
